HOW TO LIVE OUR EVERYDAY LIFE ACCORDING TO THE TEACHING OF THE QURAN

I - GREETINGS

We will start with the morning as we go out when we meet people:

Surah An-Nisaa (4): verse 86
((When a (courteous) greeting is offered to you, meet it with a greeting still more courteous, or (at least) of equal courtesy.  ALLAH takes careful account of all things.))

Here we are instructed that GOD takes everything into consideration accounts, and the greeting is also taken into consideration.  There are times when a non-Muslim greets a Muslim with "Assalamualaikum" (peace be upon you), and sadly I have seen Muslims who have not replied.  When I have asked them the reason for their behaviour they have said: they feared that they were being made fun of.  It is not important if the other person makes fun or not.  In fact we cannot tell if this is true, as we cannot read is intentions.  We are not responsible for him.  We are responsible for our actions, and so whenever anyone gives us a greeting we must make a point to answer it as per instruction from the Quran, with the same greeting if not a better one.
