| Moulding successful Muslim leaders |
Oleh Za'im Zaini BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - A good Muslim leader is one who can be relied upon and build a civilisation blessed by Allah. The concept that is used in this working paper is to achieve a successful performance from a human being's evaluation and Allah swt.
With this Islamic concept or leadership from Allah swt revelation can bring true success.
This was stated by Ustaz Awang Haji Emran Bin Haji Sabtu on Monday at the Mosque Takmir Committee Seminar held at Tutong.
He said the responsibility to produce a good Muslim leader is not
only shouldered by a specific group but by all parties concerned including mosque officers and Takmir working committees.
The objective of work ethics in Islam is to produce a successful organisation or community with Islamic characteristics. Such characteristics will also produce Muslim leaders who are successful because they help mould the personality and lifestyle of an individual who can achieve whatever success an organisation wishes for.
The tasks of a mosque officer in the past were having the ability to buyand sell, the ability in writing, involvement in state politics, being able to teach at government_ schools and having a strong influence.
A mosque officer has a special position in the hierarchy of leaders in Brunei Darussalam. They are people who are well respected. Being pious, knowledgeable and having good moral values, they can shoulder the responsibility that is given by
oneself, family, society or an organisation.
Practising good Islamic work ethics will place all intentions towards actions only for Allah swt and the Almighty's blessing.
In Islam, a leader is required to strategise, plan and execute matters that will bring happiness to the world.
"We should understand, appreciate and practise the teachings of Islam in full. Society values a person's leadership through a good relationship with Allah through prayers and a good relationship with men," he said.
