Economics problems faced by most developing countries have to be tackled to avoid Muslim from being ignored. Currently Muslims funds were estimated at about USD300 billion and would increase up to USD1 trillion by 2013. These funds consist of deposits in banks, funds in bay'tulmal such as zakat, sadaqah and waqf. If these funds are used efficiently, they could increase the socio-economics of a country specifically and improve the economics of the ummah as overall provided it is based on shariah principles. The conference in Islamic Economics (iECONS) 2007 is thus another earnest effort undertaken by the Faculty of Economics and Muamalat, Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM) to discuss the cooperation, opportunities and challenges in order to obtain comprehensive balance development among Islamic countries.
