Opportunity for Journalists!

Young journalists from all over Europe are invited to participate in the
European Young Journalist Awards, by submitting articles about the
expansion of the European Union.

All winners from the 35 countries involved will get a trip through the
West Balkans, where they can network with the other winners and attend a
final conference, together with high level decision makers and media
professionals.

Entries can be written in one of the official EU languages or one of the
languages of the candidate and potential candidate countries. The aim of
this event is to encourage young journalists between 17 to 35 years old to
reflect and express their opinions about the European Union enlargement
policies.

The subject can be explored in any angle, but if here are some topics that
could help:
- Joining the EU - good for the European Union or good for the new Member
State?
- Do you feel like a European citizen? Do people in your country feel like
European citizens?
- What is the purpose and/or value of opening the EU to new Member States?
- From six to 27 countries: What do you think about European integration
in the last 50 years? What do you think about future enlargements?
- What are the benefits and challenges of future enlargements of the EU?
- What does belonging to the EU mean for you/your country?
- What do "European values" mean to you?

For more information or to submit your article, please go to the
competition website www.EUjournalist-award.eu by March 15th 2008, or
e-mail Natasha Sa Osorio on [EMAIL PROTECTED]
