Malaysians will go to the polls on 8th March 2008. This talk will provide an
insight into the issue of politics including voting from an Islamic perspective.
Speakers Profile
Shaykh Haitham al-Haddad was born in Saudi Arabia and studied for 12 years
with various scholars in Saudi Arabia including Shaykh Abdul Aziz bin Baz and
Shaykh Abdullah bin Jibreen. He has an ijaza from Shaykh Abdullah bin Aqeel in
Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh.
He holds a BA (Hons) in Law and Shariah from Omdurman University in
Khartoum, Sudan. He also holds a BSc in Computer Science from King Fahd
University of Petroleum and Minerals (Saudi Arabia) and is currently completing
a PhD in Islamic Law at SOAS in London.
Syaikh Haitham is currently the Director of Muslim Research and Development
Foundation in London. He also sits on the board of advisors of a number of key
Islamic organisations in the United Kingdom, including the Islamic Shariah
Council and the Fatwa Committee of Britain. His expertise is in Usul al-Fiqh,
Fiqh and Islamic Finance.
