European campaign accuses Israel of genocide in Gaza

BRUSSELS, (PIC)- The European campaign for the lifting of the siege
on Gaza Strip has accused on Friday the Israeli occupation government
of committing a genocide in the Strip, describing the Israeli siege
on Gaza as the "harshest closure in modern history".
"The Israeli blockade and the closure of Gaza crossing points had
inflicted negative repercussions on the Palestinian populace in Gaza
Strip [where 1.5 million Palestinians are living], especially the
children, as the siege paralyzed Gaza hospitals and rendered them
without medicine pr medical equipments and machines", warned Arafat
Madi, the spokesman of the campaign in a press release in Brussels.
He also described the siege on Gaza as another Palestinian Nakba
(catastrophe) as 1.5 million Palestinians in Gaza were exposed to
real genocide that target all pillars of human life there, including
water, food, fuel, and electricity among other basic life necessities.
Furthermore, Madi slammed the Israeli crimes against Palestinian
children in Gaza, revealing that around 54 Palestinian children had
died after the Israeli occupation government denied them permits to
travel abroad in order to receive medical treatment outside the
beleaguered hospitals in the Strip, describing the Israeli crimes
against the Palestinian children as "programmed war crimes".
Around 171 sick Palestinian citizens had died so far due to lack of
medicine after the IOA rejected their application to leave abroad for
proper medical treatment.
In this regard, Madi called on Egypt to help alleviate the Gaza
suffering, and to immediately open the Rafah crossing point, which is
the only exit that links Gaza Strip with the outside world.
Egypt had intermittently open the crossing point but for a very short
period that didn't help soothe the pain of Gaza.
Silent holocaust:
For its part, the Gaza-based anti-siege popular committee, which is
chaired by Palestinian MP D Jamal Al-Khudari warned that the Israeli
occupation government was committing true war crimes against the
Palestinian children, describing the Israeli siege on Gaza as "true
and silent holocaust".
The Palestinian society for child's rights revealed more horrifying
facts indicating that the IOF troops had killed 640 Palestinian
children since the Aqsa intifada sparked in September, 2000, adding
that around 344 Palestinian children of both genders were also
languishing in Israeli jails in clear violation and defiance of
international laws and pacts.
"Children in Gaza comprise 51% of the total population of the tiny
Strip", said Rami Abdo, the spokesman of the committee, warning that
the Israeli hermitic siege on the Strip inflicted social and
psychological problems on the Strip's children.
