OF ACCOUNTANTS 2010 PROJECT
The
World Congress of Accountants (WCOA) is a global forum where thousands
of professional accountants, government officials, industry leaders,
policy makers, standard-setters, innovators and delegations meet to
exchange views on areas of international and regional interest. This
global forum is highly respected and well-attended, attracting over
5,000 delegates from around the world.
1. WEBSITE ADMINISTRATOR / MASTER - WCOA 2010 (CONTRACT)
The successful candidate will be overall in-charged of the Information
Technology section for the Institute's WCOA 2010 Project.
Responsibilities:
· Create, maintain and improve websites
· Find, create and install tools to create web content and check for
consistency
· Develop and enforce the website style and interact with graphic artists
· Make the website as easy as possible to navigate
· Set up and maintain web servers
· Make sure the standards are maintained so that links are lively and
efficient
· Coordinate the work of support staff involved in putting together and
maintaining websites
· Prepare reports and analyze website user statistics
· Provide user support as and when required
Requirements:
· Degree / Diploma in Interactive Media Design or equivalent
· 3 years of work experience in a related field
· Strong in creative conceptualization and design
· Able to work independently and as part of the team
· Good written and verbal skills particularly in English
· Good planning and organizational skills
· Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash and flash ActionScript,
Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Illustrator.
2.
ASSISTANT MANAGER – FINANCE (CONTRACT)
The
successful candidate will assist the Finance Manager in managing the
Institute’s Finance Department and the WCOA 2010 Project which includes
the full spectrum of finance accounting and management reporting
functions, forecasts, taxation and budgeting. This will include but is
not limited to core areas such as statutory reporting / compliance,
corporate governance, business planning, or credit and risk management.
Requirements:
· Professional qualification or a Degree in Accountancy and a member of MIA
· At least 3 - 5 years of relevant working experience with the last 1-2
years in a managerial position
· Familiar with computerized accounting systems
· Excellent knowledge in MS-Office software applications in particular
Excel
· Strong ability in driving results and able to work independently
· Strong analytical skills with excellent eye for detail
Ÿ Able to work under pressure and adapt to a fast moving environment
Ÿ Must have sound judgment, business acumen and maturity of thoughts
Ÿ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
3.
ASSISTANT MANAGER – PROGRAM MANAGEMENT (CONTRACT)
The
successful candidate will assist the Manager to conduct research to
develop top-notch topics / contents, identify and confirm leaders of
the industry as speakers / moderators for the Institute’s WCOA 2010
Project. He / She will be required to supervise the Professional
Conference Organizers (PCO) in the areas of Speaker Management and the
logistics required by the speakers/moderators during the World
Conference.
Requirements:
· Professional qualification or a Degree in Accountancy
· At least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in conference
management
· Those with other qualifications and have experience in a similar capacity
will also be considered
· Having an understanding of the accountancy profession and a research
background would be an added advantage
· Must have good project management skills from planning, strategizing and
execution of the programs
· Able to network to source for speakers / moderators
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· A self-starter, good team player and highly independent
PROFESSIONAL
STANDARDS & PRACTICES DEPARTMENT
1. MANAGER / ASSISTANT MANAGER – ACCOUNTING & FRSIC
The
successful candidate will assist the Senior Manager and/or Head of
Department in managing Financial Reporting Standards Implementation
Committee (FRSIC) activities, providing technical support to the Institute, its
Council and members and handling the
day-to-day operations of the Professional Standards and Practices
Department including the administration of the Department and its
personnel in relation to all technical matters affecting the Institute.
2. MANAGER
– REGULATORY GUIDELINES
The
successful candidate will assist the Head of Department in handling
issues relating to regulatory guidelines / regulations / rules / Acts
including those issued by Bursa Malaysia, Securities Commission,
Companies Commission of Malaysia, Bank Negara Malaysia and relevant
government agencies; and managing the
day-to-day operations of the Professional Standards and Practices
Department including administration of the Department and its personnel
in relation to all technical matters affecting the Institute, its
Council and members. Candidate with an exposure to special assignments
such as listing exercise and due diligence is a pre-requisite.
3. MANAGER
– AUDITING & ASSURANCE
The
successful candidate will assist the Senior Manager and/or Head of
Department in managing all Ethics and Assurance related activities, providing
technical support to the Institute, its Council and members on Ethics and
Assurance; and managing the
day-to-day operations of the Professional Standards and Practices
Department including administration of the Department and its personnel
in relation to all technical matters affecting the Institute.
Requirements for position 1, 2 and 3:
· Professional qualification or a Degree in Accountancy and a member of MIA
· At least 4 years of relevant working experience as an Audit Manager from
a Big Four Firm or Medium size firm
· Involvement in facilitating training and ability to conduct training is
an added advantage
· Able to conduct research and solving technical issues and is technically
sound
· Has passion in learning and sharing knowledge
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· High degree of self-motivation, results oriented and able to work
independently
· Able to inspire confidence, influence others and rise up to challenges
constructively
4. SENIOR
EXECUTIVE - ACCOUNTING & FRSIC
The successful candidate will assist the Managers and / or Head of Department
in managing the Audit and Assurance Standards Board (AASB) activities,
providing technical support to the Institute, its Council and members on audit
and assurance.
Requirements:
· Professional qualification or a Degree in Accountancy
· At least 2 years of relevant working experience as an Audit Senior from
a Big Four Firm or Medium size firm
· Able to work independently with initiative and has passion in learning
and sharing knowledge
· Able to conduct research and solving technical issues and is technically
sound
· Has excellent report writing skills
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Highly motivated, pro-active and possess leadership skills
LEGAL &
ENFORCEMENT DEPARTMENT
1. ASSISTANT MANAGER - ENFORCEMENT
The
successful candidate will assist in investigation conducted by the
Investigation Committee of the Institute in respect of complaints
against its members. The successful candidate
will also provide technical and legal support to the relevant
Committees of the Institute, including drafting of legal documents and
conducting legal research in areas affecting the accountancy profession
in Malaysia.
Requirements:
· An Honours Degree in Law from a reputable and recognized university, and
admission to the Malaysian Bar
· At
least 3 - 5 years related working experience in a legal firm preferably
with some experience in litigation, and with good drafting and research
skills
· An
appreciation of administrative law and knowledge of investigation /
disciplinary procedures within a professional context would be an
advantage
· Relevant accounting qualifications or knowledge would be an added
advantage
· Resourceful and able to conduct research on related disciplines
· Has high level of integrity, responsible and a good team player
ADMINISTRATION
& EVENTS MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT
1. SENIOR EXECUTIVE
The
successful candidate will assist the Manager in managing the
Administration unit of the Department which includes handling the
Institute’s Insurance Policies, tenancy agreements, travel
arrangements, procurement, asset management, building maintenance and
secretary to committees.
Requirements:-
Ÿ At least a Diploma in Business Administration / Management or equivalent
Ÿ At least 2 years of related working experience in an executive position
Ÿ Good knowledge in Microsoft Office application
Ÿ Possess good leadership qualities and excellent administrative skills
Ÿ Meticulous, a good team player, highly independent
Ÿ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ÿ High sense of urgency, responsibility, pro-active and dynamic
COMMUNICATIONS
DEPARTMENT
1. SENIOR EXECUTIVE
The
successful candidate will support the Communications team in managing
the reputation / credibility of the Institute through all forms of
communication channels. The candidate will also liaise with key
stakeholders and engages in project planning so that the Institute’s
Public relations are able to achieve the desired outcome.
Requirements:
· A recognised degree in Mass Communications / Public relations or
equivalent
· At
least 3 years related working experience in media or public relations.
Exposure in a Public Relations agency would be an added advantage
· Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and ability to interact
with people at all levels
· Possess flair for writing especially in areas concerning business
correspondence and report-writing
· Possess an establish network and strong contacts with the media
· A self-starter, a good team player and highly independent
· Pleasant personality, dynamic, energetic and results oriented
· Required language (s): Bahasa Malaysia, English
· Preferred language (s): Mandarin
EDUCATION
DEPARTMENT
1. EXECUTIVE
The
successful candidate will assist the Manager in planning and
coordinating the Institute’s activities in respect of education,
examination and accreditation matters. He / She will be required to
visit organizations and institutions of higher learning to promote the
qualifying examination of the Institute. He / She is also required to
organize and conduct career talks and participate in exhibitions and
activities to promote and disseminate information about the Institute.
Requirements:
· Degree in Accounting / Finance / Business Administration or equivalent
· At least 2 – 3 years relevant working experience, ideally in a
accountancy practice environment
· Knowledge in accounting education would be an added advantage
· Experience in conducting career talks / training is preferred
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Pleasant personality, dynamic, energetic and results oriented
· Possess own transport and traveling is required
FINANCE
DEPARTMENT
1. EXECUTIVE
The successful candidate will be responsible
for the timely and accurate completion of reports, collections of
income, preparation of bank reconciliation statements and other
accounting related functions.
Requirements:
· At least a Diploma in Accounting / LCCI / or equivalent
· Possess a professional qualification would be an added advantage
· At least 2 years related working experience
· Familiar with computerized accounting systems and proficient in
Microsoft Excel and Word
· Independent, diligent, meticulous and ability to meet tight reporting
deadlines
HUMAN RESOURCES
DEPARTMENT
1. HR COORDINATOR
The
successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day
administrative duties of the Department. He/She will also assist in
handling enquiries on related matters affecting the department.
Requirements:
· At
least a Diploma in Human Resources Management / Business Administration
/Management (majoring in Human Resource) or any related qualification
· At least 1 year working experience in human resources functions
· Experience in coordinating training and dealing with PSMB would be an
added advantage
· Good knowledge in Microsoft Office applications
· Good communications and interpersonal skills with the ability to
interact well at all levels
· Good administrative skills, able to multitask and meet tight deadlines
· High sense of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality

MIA
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE
1. CLIENT RELATIONS OFFICER
The
successful candidate will assist in the day-to-day administration of
seminars and conferences which will include, inter alia, data entry,
administrative duties of event management, debt collection and
registration follow up calls and generally assisting in all aspects of
event administration work.
Requirements:-
Ÿ At least a Diploma in Business Administration or other related discipline
Ÿ At least 1-2 years related working experience, preferably in conference
management
Ÿ Good time management skills, high attention to details and able to
multitask
Ÿ Tactful, highly responsible with a good attitude and enjoys dealing with
people
