Salmah ibnul Akwa’ Radiyallahu ‘anhu narrates:
A bier was brought and
Rasullullah Sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam
was requested to offer the funeral Salat.
He (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) asked:
Did the deceased owe anything?
It was replied:
He did not.
So he (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) led the funeral Salat.
Then another bier was brought,
and when Rasullullah Sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam asked:
Did the deceased owe anything?
It was replied:
He did.
Rasullullah Sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam said:
Offer the funeral Salat for your companion.
Abu Qatadah Radiyallahu ‘anhu said:
I am responsible for his debt.
Thereupon, Rasullullah Sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam
led the funeral Salat.
