Hi David,

I do you one better: not only is it possible for a local app (written in
Java or anything else) to launch a selector, but the best way to do this is
for the client app to use the Higgins Selector Switch [1]. The user then has
a choice of launching CardSpace or a Higgins-based selector.

I understand that you wish to call the selector from a Java app, but (since
the HSS stuff is OS-specific) it would be helpful to know what operating
system(s) you¹re thinking about. So we can help you more specifically.

Since this HSS stuff is an area of active development, I¹m afraid that the
code in the SVN has outstripped the wiki doc at the moment, but we¹re
working on fixing up the HSS entries in the wiki (including, for example,
how the HSS components are described in [1,2])
