पुस्तकालय पुस्तकालय दो शब्दों से मिल कर बना है .पुस्तक + आलय . इसका अर्थ है वह स्थान जहाँ पुस्तकों का ढेर लगा हो . मनुष्य जाति का ज्ञान पुस्तकों में ही संचित रहता है .पुस्तकें मनुष्य को सही दिशा देती हैं . जीवन यात्रा में कदम - कदम पर पुस्तकें सच्ची साथी की तरह सहयोग करती हैं . पुस्तकालय का स्वरुप एवं व्यवस्था : पुस्तकों का संग्रह ही पुस्तकालय है . पुस्तकालय दो प्रकार के होते हैं :-१ .व्यक्तिगत २.सार्वजनिक . हर पुस्तकालय पुस्तकालय में पुस्तकालय अध्यक्ष एवं कर्मचारी होते हैं .प्रत्येक पुस्तकालय में एक पुस्तक सूचि होती है ,जिसके आधार पर पाठक पुस्तकों का चुनाव करते हैं .पुस्तकालय में कोई व्यक्ति ७ या अधिक अधिक से अधिक १५ दिन के लिए एक पुस्तक ले जा सकता है .पुस्तकें हर हालत में सुरक्षित रखनी होती हैं .देर से पुस्तक जमा करने पर दंड भी देना पड़ता है . लाभ : पुस्तकालय हमारे ज्ञान भंडार की वृद्धि में सहायक होता है ,कोई भी व्यक्ति सभी पुस्तकें अपने पास नहीं रख सकता है .पुस्तकालय में सभी पुस्तकें आसानी से उपलब्ध हो जाती हैं .पुस्तकालय की पुस्तकें पढ़ने से हमें जीवन की अनेक समस्याओं से छुटकारा मिल जाता है . पठन - पाठन की ओर प्रवृति हो जाती है .जिस पर हमारा भविष्य निर्भर करता है . स्कूलों एवं कॉलेज से वंचित व्यक्ति भी पुस्तकालय के माध्यम से ज्ञान प्राप्त कर सकते हैं . पुस्तकें ही हमारा मार्ग दर्शन करती हैं . पुस्तकालय एक विश्वविद्यालय की तरह होता है . जहाँ अनेक विषयों की जानकारी होती है . यही कारण है कि आजकल पुस्तकालयों की लोकप्रियता बढ़ती ही जा रही है . -- 1.
