This morning on firing up my feed reader I noticed the following blog post
on oreillynet :
http://www.oreillynet.com/onjava/blog/2007/11/using_jakarta_slide_stop_use_j.html

After reading the article I thought I'd check out the jakarta slide
project page at http://jakarta.apache.org/slide/ only to find out that the
entire project, including its documentation has taken offline. Since our
current project relies on hippo repository, I can't help but wonder if/how
this will affect us. Perhaps someone could shed some light on this?

This will not affect your project, as the situation has not changed significantly. The Slide project has been inactive for a while, only now has it been officially shut down. Hippo Repository will not be shut down, and Hippo will continue to support it (actually this is exactly the added value of a company like Hippo, to guarantee support on open source software).

A new Hippo Repository 2, based on Apache Jackrabbit, is currently under development.

Hope this helps,

Niels
