Okay, this I understand.

However. When you save a document in the cms, we now also see that only
a date is stored. No timestamp or whatever.
Is there some configuration issue we overlooked, or are times never
stored on saving.

No. We have had a couple of use-cases that required a datetime field
which we solved by adding two textfields or dropdownfields (hour &
minutes) next to the datefield.
