Hi Niek,
Uploading documents from within the document editor is not the
conventional way to attach files to a XML document. The usual way to do
this is :
1. add a file under the "Assets" tab
2. edit your backend template definition and add a "urlpreview" widget
(see [1]) to be able to add a reference to an asset in your XML document
3. reload the document in the editor: the urlpreview widget should now
be available when editing the document, as a button. Clicking the button
will open a popup in which you can select the file you uploaded. The
path to the file is stored in the XML (e.g. /binaries/foo/bar.pdf).
It's a method of working for CMS users: first you add an asset, then you
attach it to an XML document. If you want to upload and attach it on the
same page, from within the editor (e.g. from the popup of the urlpreview
widget), you need to extend the CMS (specifically the popup). But, IMO,
you will do a lot of extra work for something that already exists :)
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Dennis

Hi all,
For a project im working on I need to build a template with input fields like
title and description but also an upload button. With
that button it should be possible to upload a file and link it to the document.
It is somewhat like an email at which you can attach files. Is that possible
and if so what would be the best way to accomplish this? I am unfamiliair with
Hippo XMS so please provide a clear and structured method.
Kind regards,
Niek Wesseling
