Hi,

We are using the community apps, but only for the poll. We don't want to use
the newsletter functionality. However, by default a cron job is running to
batch mail the newsletters. This produces INFO and WARN messages in our logs
and is an extra, unneeded point of failure. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem
to be a switch to turn off the cron job. My solution was to change the cron
pattern to:

hca.processqueues.cron=0 0 * * * ? 2045

The result is that the cron job will only run in 2045 (the Quartz scheduler
seems unable to deal with 2050 or up). Inconveniently, the cron pattern is the
only property from persistence.properties that is hardcoded, so I had to patch
it.

My question is whether a switch/property can be added to turn off the entire
cron-job? Regardless of whether that is possible, I would suggest making cron
pattern configurable. That would seem useful for newsletter users, who may want
more control over the mail batches.

Regards,

Wouter Zelle
