That is the solution to this problem. The difference between running the 
example and application was that the first was run in Tomcat while the latter 
was run in JBOSS. JBOSS already had a commons-httpclient.jar with the wrong 
version for the repository.

Thanks alot for your help guys! It would have taken me a lot more time to get 
this running correctly without that help.

Ah, you need Commons HttpClient 2.0.2. HttpClient 3.0 is incompatible
with our repository.
