Hi,
Just hold the chuck in your hand. The chuck will warm the back of the
oct without warming the rest of the block significantly. The block will
separate from the chuck and you can store it however you want.
I'm not a fan of running water on it if you intend to store it frozen.
The water will leave tons of ice crystals. The same is true to a lesser
extent in just leaving it out in room temperature. If you want to keep it
frozen then don't let the whole block warm up...just the chuck.

Hello Histonetters,
We're reviewing our safety protocols, and I'm wondering what others use to
remove OCT blocks from the chuck in cryosectioning. Are there any new
tools out there?
