i am looking at ways to minimize the bandwidth used while making
complete backups and will share the solution once i arrive at it.
right now, i'm building an Ubuntu 16.04 VM to run barman which
may prove to be a very good solution. barman uses a method that
i've rolled out by hand in the past for postgresql which copies
uncompressed dumps using rsync, which turns out to minimize
bandwidth utilization amazingly well.
