Hello,

since the beginning OHM has been accepting unencrypted authentication with a
kluge that occasionally would allow https traffic.

Next week, OHM will begin supporting HTTPS authentication with a proper SSL
cert. By the end of July HTTP requests to openhistoricalmap.org will redirect
to the HTTPS. Interested parties can follow the details here [1] as they
unfold. This will require you to switch your requests to the https version of
the website when using JOSM or another client.

Tile maps will continue to be available over HTTP and HTTPS for the foreseeable
future.

I've begun the process of aligning the out-of-date OHM production website with
the ball-of-twine that production OSM / ID, OHM github, different time-slider
demos (et al) have become. This will take some time and news will be posted
here [2], thank you for your patience.

And now back to our regularly scheduled program.
