The recent situation has raised doubts about the current hosting of OHM, and discussions off list with many members of this community in the past few months have made made me concerned about the stewardship of this project.

As one of the founders of OHM, owner of the domain name, and a practising historian, I look forward to resolving these problems and limitations, with help from Jeff and others. We should have some good news to announce soon!

Best,

S.K.

Hi,

Can we bring up a new HA instance from latest backup so the community can use this service?
The existing site since its clearly down for good.  Time to start again.

Please make openhistoricalmap available and transparent asap!

Hi Rob -

Understood that these are trying times & hope that all is well with you and your family and friends.

In the interest of helping in any way possible, can you add some more detail/transparency about what's going on with ohm.org?

- What specifically is the situation? No building access? Key people unavailable? Campus lockdown? Understood that for any of these, we could be out for an indeterminate period on that hardware.
- Are the planet backups also inaccessible? So, no offsite / different site for planet.pbf?
- If we can get a semi-recent copy of the core database, we could be up and running again in short order on AWS.

It'd be great if people could use some of their newfound free time for historical mapping on OHM.

Thanks,
Jeff

The problem is currently above everyone's pay-grade. Spares and backups were pre-positioned, this is a second-order effect of current events.

We can talk off list if you wish, but this is not a technical problem.

I'll redirect to a stand-by slide shortly. -R
