build file improvements

while working on hive-333 - i ended up simplifying the build files:
- should have a 'jar' target instead of 'deploy'
- deploy copies some jar files around unnecessarily
- the long sequences of subants inside build.xml can be simplified to
one-liners.
i would like to get these changes in separately (not sure whether we would
actually commit hive-333 and when)
