I have in principal compiled Hive 0.3.0 release with Hadoop-0.20.0 after using
Justin's patch and some other tweaks and able to create tables at least with
select * queries.
Will update once I am able to run more extensive tests, so would second Ashish
opinion that Hadoop-0.20.0 is not yet the best version for use with Hive-0.3.0

Actually it does not compile with 0.20 yet. Justin has posted a patch for that
but that is not yet in hive. So your best beat is 0.17, 0.18 or 0.19. I think
0.19 should be safe, though internally we use 0.17 but others may have tried
0.19 more extensively.

Subject: Best version of Hadoop to use with Hive?

We are building a small (4 machine) cluster to test Hadoop/Hive. Is 0.20.0 the
best version of Hadoop to use with Hive, or should we use a previous version?

Thanks,
Scott
