I ran into a different error when running Jdbc test on standalone mode. I'm looking into that issue. It seems your error is due to thrift connection. Can you double check if you have another version of libthrift.jar or libfb303.jar in your classpath? This could be true if you have these two jars in your hadoop's lib directory.
