There have been pretty significant changes to the metastore schema between version 0.5.0 and what's currently available on the 0.6.0 branch. If you end up distributing your own pre-0.6 Hive RPM you'll need to include metastore upgrade scripts for MySQL (and possibly Derby, PostgreSQL, etc). HIVE-1427 covers this task and is one of the last few issues blocking the release of 0.6.0. I can reassign this task to you if you have time and are interested in working on it. It would be great to have your help getting the release out the door. Thanks. Carl
