Assalamaulaikum,
komen mengenai artikel yang tersiar dalam NST: I Swear: Cover up -- a
heady issue Khamis, Januari 27, 2000,By Nora Marzuki
>
sebegini.(Sebaiknya kita hantar email ramai-ramai kat NST...padan
muka!)
>
Kedua: Saya amat bersedih hati dengan nasib si penulis. Berdasarkan
menghormati amalan, hak, kehendak orang lain? Kenapa tidak berfikiran
terbuka? (Benda lain terbuka, tapi pemikirannya tidak!)

Atau mungkin tafsiran saya salah. Mungkin penulis hanyalah seorang
'menegur' amalan datuk nenek sendiri.
>
Kenapa sanggup mencemuh perbuatan teman dan saudara sendiri, padahal
diri sendiri begitu jauh terpesong dari ajaran sebenar? Adakah penulis
masih boleh mengakui diri sebagai seorang Islam?
>
>
--1.ye le eager sangat nak menulis, tapi jangan sampai tak ingat mana
betul dan yg mana salah. Jangan kutuk je tak menentu. 2. Tulis le
dengan fikiran yang terbuka.Professional sikit kalau nak menulis dalam
akhbar nasional.

My comments, She did that because she's still jahil. Let's just pray
that satu hari nanti Allah akan kurniakan hidayah kepadanya. Just like
what Allah did kepada artis yang dulunya terkenal dengan mulut laser,
Fauziah Ahmad Daud.

hidayahNya.

    Khamis, Januari 27, 2000

    By Nora Marzuki
>
MY sister Norlia was aghast when her husband forbade her to cover her
head.
>

She's the eldest in the family and was in the habit of wearing a
tudung every now and then. And she's got stacks of scarves and
headgear to match her outfits - some as shiny as Christmas trees. I
thought they were quite gross.
>
When she told us about her husband's latest ruling at our recent family
reunion, we didn't know how to react for a few minutes, and then all of
us burst into laughter.
>
"You must obey your husband for heaven is at his feet," said my sister
Leha.
>
"What bloody rubbish!" I said. "If he is a bloody heel - hell is what
you get from his feet when he kicks you," I added.
>
The family knows my feelings on this subject. Even my late mother used
to get amused when I would rage whenever anyone was foolish enough to
make that insinine statement in my presence. Give me a break! Imagine
heaven at his smelly feet. How revolting!
>
I have always adored my brother-in-law Sulaiman, more so now for taking
that liberal stand.
>
Sulaiman had never been hypocritical. And as long as I could remember
he was the only one in the family who had always prayed consistently -
and five times a day to boot!
>
He is the most broadminded of the lot too, always there to listen and
to advise us when we have problems or did something stupid, without
passing judgment.

I could talk to him about anything under the sun. He's a great guy.
>
According to Norlia, Sulaiman said he didn't see any purpose in her
wearing a tudung as there is nothing wrong with her head. But he did
relent a bit by saying that if she wanted to wear one she could do so,
but he would not want to be seen with her.
>
"I don't know what to tell my friends," Norlia said. "A few of them
commented about my sudden expose, so I told them that as a wife I must
obey my husband," she said with a giggle. As if she does.

My advice to her was to improve her hairstyle. At that time, she'd> got
a square haircut which made her resemble the man on the Hacks sweet
wrapper.
>
"Layer your hair, then colour it brown. That might help you to look a
little younger," I told her. Like a docile lamb, Norlia allowed me to
trim and colour her hair. I am not bad at that. Even my partner Andy
trusts me with his hair.
>
When I am in a good mood he would get a great haircut - his curly
white shiny locks would be neatly trimmed at the top and sides, and
with the back tapering stylishly below his collar. When I feel
vindictive, Andy's hair would be crooked at the sides and jagged
behind. Serves him right for phoning me early to attend a silly
meeting.
>
To go back to the subject of tudung, I had high tea with some of my
closest friends since college days. The seven of us have remained
faithful to each other through sick and sin. Three of them turned up
wearing tudung.
>
The fourth one who had recently covered her head (but did not turn
up that day) did it as she couldn't take the pressure from her husband
any longer.
>
Kin did it as she likes the style. Gee did it as her life was so
troubled at one stage that when she came back from the Haj, she felt so
at peace with herself that she decided to just keep it on.
>
Faz did it out of fright. She told us God tried to show her something
when she went for the Haj last year. While going round the Kaabah, poor
Faz and her daughter were accidentally exposed! Somehow in the melee,
both of them lost their telekung. "And then I had an asthma attack and
nearly died. But worse was to come. My telekung was ripped off again
second time!" said Faz.
>
"I am sure God was trying to tell me something!" she said. Doris and I
told her God was probably trying to tell her not to cover her head!
>
"I am not taking any chances," she said. That day she had a stylish
scarf on to match her colourful blouse with short sleeves! "I know, I
know!" she said. "But this blouse goes well with my scarf and
pants, OK!"
>
We did miss Ani that day. She didn't come as her husband was not well.
Ani, Doris and I have made a pact that as long as we have hair, we
would not hide it. Besides, Ani said she looks awful in a tudung.

"And why should I want to look old and ugly, anyway?" Doris on the
other hand declares that the tudung suffocates her.
>
And what about me? I swear I don't know. But I read somewhere that if
you cover your head long enough, you'd go bald.
