Chinese Lunar New Year Message by Datin Seri Dr.Wan
Azizah Wan Ismail, President of Parti Keadilan Nasional

It is a vital feature of Malaysian life that the Gawai, Vasakhi, Wesak,
Deepavali, Christmas, Hari
Raya Eid Al Fitr and other festivals follow one after another.

Now comes the time for Chinese Malaysians to celebrate the Chinese
Lunar New Year.

First and foremost, my family and I wish every Chinese Malaysian a very
prosperous and happy new
year: Xin Nian Jin Pu and Wan Shi Ru Ye. I acknowledge and express our
debt of gratitude to you
all for all your sincere and loyal contributions and sacrifices towards
the building of a vibrant, united
and just Malaysia.

The Chinese have long regarded the dragon as a symbol of courage,
vitality ! and justice. As Chinese
Malaysians usher in the Year of the Dragon, they would attach greater
significance to these values.
This is good for our nation. Let us strive together for a Malaysia that
has the courage to transcend
the prejudices and selfish ambitions which can impede our progress
towards unity, the vitality to
bring about development that will benefit not only the few but all the
people especially the poor and
the neglected, and the sense of justice that will make us more just,
open, free and caring.

I am so proud that Malaysia is so rich with all the different cultures.
I wholeheartedly accept and
enjoy the sincere social interchange between all Malaysians. We have
long live as a multi-ethnic,
religious and cultural society. We have learned to enjoy this
environment and it has become a part of
our life. The best thing we can do for the future generations of
Malaysians is to bring them up to
appre! ciate and respect their neighbours.

The celebration of Chinese New Year gives expression to the universal
values of respecting the
aged, loving the young, helping the poor and upholding justice with
courage and determination. All
Malaysians can wholeheartedly share and participate in this.

GONG XI FA CAI !

YB Datin Seri Wan Azizah
