Mujahideen sources confirm that an attack was launched against a Russian base between the mountains of Shatoi and Vedeno, early Wednesday morning, 01 March 2000. By the Grace of Allah Most High, the Mujahideen surrounded the enemy base and killed 60 Russian soldiers. The Mujahideen quickly regrouped and launched another attack against a second base that was located nearby. Mujahideen sources confirm that 75 Russian soldiers were killed in the second attack, and that both operations resulted in the capture of large quantities of arms and ammunition. During the fighting, 15 Mujahideen were martyred, including two foreign Mujahideen, Abu Thabit (Salih Al-Dahshi from the Arabian Peninsula) and Abdus-Samad (Tajikistan). A number of other Mujahideen were injured. May Allah accept the dead as martyrs and may He hasten the recovery of the wounded. The Mujahideen have launched this latest series of attacks against the enemy as part of an effective hit-and-run campaign that is eating away at the strength of the Russian Military. The attacks also fulfill the Mujahideen's pledge to turn the enemy forces head over heels, and to send them a warning sign that these attacks are the first in a series of crushing blows that are going to be conducted against Russian colonial forces across Chechnya. Mujahideen Eye Russians in Shatoi From Mountain Heights The Commander of Russian forces in Chechnya has claimed that his army of drunkards and drug addicts had "captured the last major rebel stronghold in Chechnya following fierce fighting that left 150 Mujahideen dead." The Russian General's comments, made in reference to the mountain village of Shatoi, are false and misleading. Mujahideen sources confirm that no Mujahideen units were ever stationed in the village as the Mujahideen refrain from positioning themselves in populated areas to help spare the civilian population as much fighting as possible. Russian soldiers themselves have admitted that they did not find a single member of the Mujahideen in Shatoi. The Russians are now in the small mountain village. However, they are being watched. They are being hunted and they will die soon insha-Allah. Like eagles in the sky and like lions in the brush, the Mujahideen are watching every move the Russians make. They will soon pounce upon the Vodka army and its bribery battalions and will teach them once again why the mountains of Shatoi are described as the Lion's Den, insha-Allah. Names of 96 Russian Soldiers killed in Wednesday's Operation whose Bodies were Recovered by the Mujahideen: "Indeed those who disbelieve spend their wealth to hinder men from the Path of Allah, and so will they continue to spend it; but in the end it will become a loss for them. Then they will be defeated. And those who disbelieve will be gathered unto Hell. In order that Allah may distinguish the evil-doers from the righteous, and cast the wicked ones one on another, heap them together and cast them into Hell. Those! It is they who are the losers." Mujahideen sources confirm that 30 Russian soldiers from a Special Forces unit were on board the doomed aircraft. The Mujahideen saw the helicopter engulfed in flames as it crashed to the ground. * Russian Forces have continued their savage bombardment of Shatoi. Mujahideen sources confirm that the enemy have occupied mountain peaks in the southern areas of the strategic mountainous region, but that their stay there will not be long insha-Allah. * The Mujahideen launched a successful attack against a Russian armoured column near the village of Duba-Yurt in Northern Shatoi. By the Grace of Allah Most High, the Mujahideen attacked the column that was moving in the direction of a mountain peak that is occupied by the Mujahideen. Three armoured vehicles were destroyed in the attack, and 11 occupants of the destroyed vehicles perished. * By the Grace of Allah, the Mujahideen have launched a series of lightning attacks against the enemy in Shatoi. The attacks have left the Russian forces dazed and confused; Russian forces do not know when and from where the Mujahideen will launch their attacks, and often end-up bombing their own units in the ensuing confusion. * Mujahideen sources confirm that the enemy inadvertently bombarded one of their own Special Forces units, killing 31 of its members. Friendly-fire attacks are common place amongst Russian units whose indiscriminate attacks often claim the lives of their own men, in addition to countless civilians. * The Mujahideen have repulsed a Russian attempt to occupy the heights that overlook the Western Valley. The valley connects Shatoi and Vedeno, and the recent enemy offensive aimed at cutting off Mujahideen transportation routes in the area. By the Grace of Allah, the Mujahideen launched several attacks on the Russians and forced them to withdraw. The enemy has since reverted to using heavy air and artillery attacks against Mujahideen positions in the region, but to no avail. Russia Continues War of Extermination against Civilian Population * The Russian campaign to exterminate the civilian population of Chechnya has continued unabated. In addition to committing wide-spread atrocities, including murder, rape and torture, Russian forces have been arresting civilians who were injured by the indiscriminate Russian attacks, and have accused the civilians of sustaining their injuries whilst supporting the Mujahideen. Many women and young girls have also been arrested under the same false pretenses. The barbarism of Russian forces and their inhuman methods have led to the deaths of many prisoners in the concentration camps. * Russian forces have launched incessant bombing raids against villages in the Argun Valley. The enemy has used heavy artillery, rockets, heavy bombs and other weapons that cause wide-spread destruction against the civilian population. Sources confirm that 55 civilians have been killed as a result of this campaign in the valley during this past week alone. Where are the human rights of the innocent who are being murdered at the hands of the savages? * Russian forces have continued using cluster bombs in violation of all international norms and agreements. Cluster bombs are large bomb-casings that are usually dropped by aircraft. At an altitude of about 250 metres, the bomb casing opens and deploys hundreds of smaller bomblets that spread out over a large area, recklessly endangering anyone and anything that comes across it. Political Opposition to Kremlin Gathers Strength * Political opponents to the Kremlin have conducted several demonstrations against the war in Chechnya. The opposition is highlighting the fact that Russia has become involved in a war that has no benefit, and that is leading to the death of thousands of Russian soldiers in the mountains of Chechnya. The Russian political opposition is also concerned about the destruction of the Russian Military; Chechnya has become a graveyard for Russian forces: every spot in the republic is littered with the burnt-out hulls of Russian armour and the wrecks of damaged vehicles. * Russian soldiers have refused to conduct operations in the wooded mountain areas occupied by the mujahideen. In a similar situation to their mutinous stance in Grozny, enemy troops are refusing their orders out of fear for their lives. The Mujahideen, on the other hand, are ready for any action or inaction taken by the enemy, and will continue their Jihad until achieving victory or martyrdom.
