New Umno VPs bear Anwar's stamp
Reading between the lines, the return of the
"Wawasan
team" (comprising Najib Tun Razak, Muhammad
Muhammad Taib and Muhyiddin Yassin) in the recent
Umno vice-presidents election indicates that Anwar
Ibrahim, the leader of the Wawasan team in 1993, is
still
very much in the minds of the delegates in the Umno
2000
election.
Two of the three vice-presidents voted in were dark
horses
and outside bets and allies of Anwar in the 1993
election.
The favourite Abdul Ghani Othman, a PM Mahathir
Mohamad's man, was rejected by the delegates.
