Gulf War Syndrome: Culprit Remains a Mystery Six Years Later
A separate report released in June 1997 by the General Accounting Office
says the possibility that soldiers were exposed to Iraqi chemical weapons
cannot be ruled out. Regardless of which U.S. governmental agency report you
believe, there is outside evidence of the presence of chemicals. Czech
chemical specialists recorded the presence of low-level Sarin gas several
times during the fighting, and several instances were reported in which
nerve gas was present at levels believed to be nonthreatening to humans. The
latter reports were subsequently ignored by military commanders as false
alarms.
