Gulf War Syndrome: Culprit Remains a Mystery Six Years Later
Scientists are divided about whether very low exposures to nerve gas could
produce the symptoms of Gulf War Syndrome, but research continues.
Pentagon-sponsored research on rats suggests that low-level exposure to
nerve gas could lead to memory loss, one of the symptoms exhibited by Gulf
War veterans, and the U.S. government has undertaken a $2.5-million study to
learn the long-term effect of low-level chemical agents on humans. In the
meantime, Gulf War veterans continue to search for answers to their serious
health problems.OTJ
