As at 9.25pm today - BA Wins Lunas
It is now official. The Alternative Front (BA) has won the Lunas
by-election.
BA garnered 10,511 votes against the National Front (BN), which only got
9,981 votes, giving the BA a margin of 530 votes.
This "narrow" win was in spite of the 2,000 missing voters. Imagine the
margin if these 2,000 voters - known BA supporters - had not "disappeared"
from the list.
This win was made possible by the BA election machinery successfully
thwarting attempts by the BN to cheat by injecting phantom voters. It was
suspected that thousands of phantom voters were being lined up to infiltrate
Lunas. However, it was called off when the buses ferrying these phantom
voters were intercepted and taken to the police station. The buses were
later escorted out of Lunas.
It was reported that other buses on the way to Lunas turned back when they
received word that the BA workers were determined not to allow these phantom
voters through and force would be used if necessary.
The Chinese voters was also a major factor. Dr Mahathir overdid himself with
the latest threat against the Chinese and clearly the Chinese have turned
against him.
The Lunas by-election is not just about one seat. It is the "winds of
change" for Malaysian politics and may spell the beginning of the end for Dr
Mahathir.
The MIC president said he will not leave Lunas if he loses this by-election.
All Malaysians will be waiting to see what he does tomorrow. Is he man
enough to keep his word?
The BA candidate jokingly said the MIC President may now have to move his
Ministry up to Lunas in keeping with his promise.

2. Kampong Naga Lilit - BA - won by 326 votes
3. Kampong Lunas - BA - won by 459 votes
4. Taman Sejahtera - BA - won by 3 votes
5. Pekan Lunas - BA - won by 290 votes
6. Pekan Selasih - BA - won by 524 votes
7. Kampong Sago - BA - won by 350 votes
8. Simpang Tiga Keladi - BN - won by 88 votes
9. Pondok Paku ??? - BN - won by 2 votes
10. Jalan Serdang - BA - won by 5 votes (unofficial)
Overall (unofficial) results - BA 10,000 plus votes against BN 9,000 plus
votes. Confirmation will be known by 9.00pm.
