He was addressing a group of invited guests at a book launch in the capital when he brought up the subject of the clashes in Kampung Medan and other suburbs last weekend. 'When I was told about what happened, I suddenly thought of May 13 and thought to myself 'Oh God, not again',' he said refering to the racial riots of 1969 that brought the country near total collapse. Datuk Seri Abdullah's voice quivered with emotion as he spoke about the lessons he learnt from former Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak. 'I immediately realised that we could not let the violence spread to other parts of the country. We had to act quickly. 'That's what Tun ( Razak) did in 1969, containing the violence in KL, making sure it did not spread. I had to do the same thing,' he said. --By Leslie Lau ______________________________________________________________ This email has been sent through 2b at http://www.2bmail.co.uk ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ( Melanggan ?
