Israeli army seals village, commits massacre

Ramallah (West Bank): 24 October, 2001 (IAP News) Sketchy reports
from the village of Beit Rima indicated that the Israeli occupation
army, which isolated the village from the rest of the world last
night, has committed a massacre of local villagers.
Villagers reached via cellular telephones (Israel reportedly cut
of electricity and telephone lines) spoke of "many bodies lying
in the streets and in olive orchards" in the village.
Many other people injured were reportedly bleeding to death as
Israeli occupation troops refused to allow ambulances to take them
to hospitals in Ramallah.
Villagers issued a distress call, carried by the Voice of Palestine
this afternoon, the PA official radio station, in which they appealed
to the Red Cross to enter the village to prevent further killings.
A villager named Said Rimawi testified that the number of Pales-
tinians civilians killed since the morning could exceed ten.
"As I speak to you, I see five bodies lying in the streets and in
olive orchards. The Israeli army is preventing people from reaching
the corpses and threatening to kill anybody leaving his home."
Rimawi, a teacher, said "we have a massacre here, I'm not exagge-
rating, we call on humanity to save us from those these Jewish Nazis."
Palestinian sources spoke of at least 15 Palestinians, mostly
civilians, killed Wednesday.
However, with the reported massacre in Beit Rima, it is believed
that the body-count will rise significantly.
Also on Wednesday, PA official Nabil Abu Rudeina appealed to the
world community to intervene before it is too late.
"The Israeli army is killing our men, women and children. We need
international protection very badly."
