Not so unusual, MS Access functions the same way.  The table is designed and 
then named upon saving.  It probably has to do with how the CREATE statement 
is constructed.  Collect the column information first and when the user is 
sure the table will be created, upon save, then get the table name to use in 
the CREATE statement.  Just a wild guess.
