Whereas I completely agree it's a shame and that knoda is the stand-out 
database application I can find for Linux, I would think the problem is 
time and money.

I have absolutely no idea whatsoever how many people actually use it in 
anger like I do, but maybe if we really want to see it continue to 
evolve and grow we should think about paying someone to update it?

If there are only a handful of people using it, that's probably not 
going to work. If there are a lot, then we should look at trying to see 
whether there's any way at all we could have someone work on it and we 
all donate an affordable fee.

Open source is free as in freedom, not free as in beer and it's only 
fair to pay for a developer's time.

knoda has a few things that are great, but several things that would 
mean it would impractical for a business of any sort of size with non 
techy people using it IMHO. That and any bug fixes would mean there was 
plenty of work for someone!
