HI Frederic (and everyone else who has mailed about this),

As you point out, the HL7 Xref has been taken down. HL7 international got in
touch last week and requested that it be removed, and obviously as the
copyright holders that's their right. (And they were quite nice about it to
boot).

HL7's hesitation on this tool stems from the fact that HL7 is a "closed
standard", meaning that only members of HL7 are allowed to have a copy.

I have offered up the codebase for the tool to HL7 in the hopes that we can
find a way of providing access to HL7 members, and they were receptive to
this idea. I am hoping that at some time soon I will be able to post an
update on that discussion.

Hopefully this helps to clear up why the tool disappeared so soon after it
appeared. I'm hoping that I'll have an update soon, as I was using it myself
daily in my day-to-day work.
