We also use CVS. On our mod team, there's two developers living 1000 miles apart.. Except for one newbie mistake I made first time using it, we've never stomped on each other's code.. As long as everyone remembers to update their local copy before comitting it back to the repository, it works great ;)
We're also setting up the modellers to use it, because they can end up with almost as many files as we have. You can even get a GUI based version to keep from scaring the heck out of your artist types at: http://www.cvsgui.org (also a free product). With the help of this and a couple batch files, anyone with a fast internet connection and Visual Studio can build a release of the mod in about an hour. ;) I'd definitely recommend it. > If you need to coordinate over the Internet (vs just on a LAN), you'll > want to avoid VSS at all costs.
