C# isn't used because it's not widespread (yet). Makes it difficult when it
just RTM'ed not long ago. I can tell you future plans will definately
include managed components and applications that will be ran using the CLR.
To whomever it was that thought C# was amusing to do any development with, I
can put any reservations you might have at ease. I work for Microsoft, and
am one of the developers wrapping the DirectX COM interfaces for support
through the managed layer. Performance numbers are anywhere from 97%-99% of
the core COM layer, through either VB.NET or C#. It's a completely viable
solution for RAD and high speed multimedia.

And yes, we use VC++ for almost every single app out there. The OS itself is
written using it as well as ASM for high frequency calls. Just to clear the
air on something else, the one person who mentioned that VB isn't that bad
anymore is right on the money, considering that VB5 and up use the same
compiler as VC5/VC6. With VS.NET, they all use the same CLR.
