Yeah, we know this.
Its just that we have no idea when the hl patch is even going to come
out.
So with designing our mods models using those effects, noone can see
them unless they have dod. Which kinda ruins it. Like my shield model in
owing. I could have easily coded it, but this way I don't have to delta
any rendering information now, which saves bandwidth when theres a bunch
of shields floating around.

If the hl patch is out by the middle of next month I wouldn't care, but
if its not out till hl2 kinda deal, that's why we wanna know if we're
allowed to at least offer the engine dlls for download so people don't
have to have DoD to play our mods properly.

Picture this; a view model with glass on it, the view model is big;
people without dod are now crippled unless they can shut off the view
models, or get the engine dlls.

Transparent models support is in the next HL patch the last I heard. (on
