Added to what he said (wow I actually agree with him on something!)
If there are cvars or commands that start with the same little bit, it
puts the longer one first, so if you type in the short cvar and press
space, it PICKS the longer one, and the only way to then type the one
you're going for, is to type the parameter, and then click back into the
word and backspace or del the extra characters out.

Subject: [hlcoders] To Valve: Suggestion for the new steam console

I like the fact that it remembers the last thing you inputted and it
gives you
a list. However I think the spacebar key is a bad key to activate the
last used
item from the list. For example in my mod I have 3 server commands that
start
with "add"

"add"
"addclock"
"addtime"

so if I want to use the "add" command I type 'a' + 'd' + 'd' 'space'

But the space key automatically brings up the first thing in the recall
list
which would be "addclock" I did not type add clock, I typed add with a
space
after it because that command takes several parameters in my mod

ex: "add player team red"

Ok, I would encourage you, to structure the aid tool to use down-arrow
opposed
to the spacebar to recall the last item. This is the way Microsoft
internet
explorer works and it seems to be the best method. Otherwise it will
just get
annoying for a few commands. Don't take my word for it, try it
yourself. I'm
sure I'm not the only one who has this issue with the console. I do
however
like the new console A LOT better, but that is it my one complaint.

Thank you
