I have a steam client install with CS and Dedicated server. Having found that dedicated server unusable for development I then used the hldsupdatetool to create a stand-alone dedicated server which works a little better. The registry contains a key: "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\HLServer" which has an "InstallPath" value that points to the folder which contains the hlds.exe for my stand-alone dedicated server. It also contains "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Steam" which has a "ModInstallPath" key that points to the folder: c:\program [EMAIL PROTECTED] That folder contains nothing at all except for a valve subfolder. The actual hlds for the steam-client version of counter-strike was (note, was)in: c:\program [EMAIL PROTECTED] e I then started a steam-client hlds for tfc and that appeared in: c:\program [EMAIL PROTECTED] ver which is odd as I would have expected it to be in this folder which does exist: C:\Program [EMAIL PROTECTED] fortress classic To double check I ran the steam-client counter-stike server again, and it now created a cstrike folder in: c:\program [EMAIL PROTECTED] ver So it appears valve have moved the location in which hlds runs for a steam-client dedicated server at some point since it was released. It will be the dedicated-server folder that is a sibling of the HalfLife folder pointed to by ModInstallPath in the registry. However, none of this helps in locating the actual HLDS that I am using which is in C:\HLServer pointed to by HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\HLServer. _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlcoders
