Two random solutions I see from your response
a. write a virus that is so potent and devastating to the point of irrevocable
destruction of any pc that ever connects to an online system once the virus is
released. Aside from innovative new connection technology that is a complete break
from existing infrastructure (for fear of re-infection) or new radical antivirus
software to destroy it, this would in effect put all online
communication/collaboration of any kind in to total oblivion.
b. every online individual agrees to never go online ever again. At a predesignated
time, we all say our goodbyes, swap RL addresses and switch off. The art of paper
letter writing would be reborn, the economy of respective countries would get a shot
in the arm plus we would have socially skilled children that have real literary skills
and healthy complexions and an actual real social existence.

Both remedy the human stupidity/gullibility factor and the world is a safe place once
again.

or
you could just rely on av software writers to do their best and hope they are
innovative and pioneering enough to foresee the human factor in their battle against
virus writers and code for it accordingly. I don't know about you but the av filter on
my mail seems to have done its job perfectly. The people you should direct your
apparent distain for is the virus writers, not the people trying to do something about
it or the people that just want to use software for its intended purpose in their
everyday lives.

Very nice. I see the worm coders caught up as expected and now
shield the zip password by using an image instead of plaintext.
Too bad that antivirus programs will againg fail at keeping this
pest at bay since there is no remedy for a human's stupidity and
gulliblity and thousands will again open the zip and help spread
the disease.
