and you can say that with concrete fact?
/me facepalms
i've seen hundreds of these worms, and that worm in particular.
there's no way to prove that one specific person at the cafe is trying
to send the worm around, or that they targetted the list at all.

you say you know lots about network security, yet you don't seem to
realize how most email worms work?
it takes one person to be infected, whether on purpose or not to start
sending out emails without even knowing it.
we get email spam, virus etc just from having an email address
publically visible due to web spiders and other tools that crawl around
webpages. the only email accounts that i get spam on are the ones that
can be parsed directly via the web (ie: accounts on forums that are
visible, or news posts, the hl* archives, etc), and ones where i happen
to have spoken to someone who saved my email in their address book, but
didn't secure their system.

there's no way you can flat out say that one person is specifically
targetting the valve list, it would be, frankly, bloody retarded to even
say that with no proof whatsoever. and, you have none to lay that
concrete conclusion down on.

as for that worm, i forget what it's called now, but i was getting that
for a while from various people, hell, i've gotten spoofed spam and
virii emails from your email address in the past couple days, and that's
mostly because of you posting here!

How do you know it isnt a variant? I mean come on you are supposed to be a
coder, how easy is it to reverse engineer a virii and place your own code to
it?

Now you are correct though in one instance. It is a worm.

It was also dumped into computer #5 at the polish cyber cafe by a customer
who obviously wants the worm to be spread through anonymous means.

He is using this polish cyber cafes computers to send email to ANYONE it has
recieved them from (including HLDS announce messages from ALFRED).
