XML. XML -> VSNet mini-converter XML -> Makefile mini-converter XML -> Nmake mini-converter
You'd only need to know the basic constructs of each destination-type; if it's auto-generated, it can be ugly, if it works. Optimized, pretty makefiles aren't a necessity, if it just plain builds properly in the end.
