That is what threading is for.
Which of course is why people should NOT use the reply button to start a
new topic....
GMail automatically hides the superfilous quoted sections, so they
don't get in the way, but theyre available if you want them.
They're available with threading. I do believe I read somewhere that
gmail supports threading?
