I do not know of a publicly available sample. My suggestion is just a
large panel that isn't drawn ( SetPaintBackGround(false) on it) and then
inside of that setup the children so that they appear to be the exterior
of your panel (with whatever irregular shape you want).
The SteamUI Beta is using the next major revision of VGUI2, we are
stilling working on filling out its functionality. It will be made
available via the SDK when it is ready, but that may be a while out yet.

Thanks for trying to help Alfred. Could you point me on an example in
the
sdk where something like this is done? I've tried multiple searches with
SetBorder and other various functions of the panels without any luck,
and I
can't seem to figure it out. All I could get is an outline just like the
ones on buttons. :o
I've looked at the resource files for the beta gui, and I see that you
have
some tga's for the borders etc. something like this could potentially
work
for me. When are we going to be able to use this method in our mods?
Then again, I still think the best would be to be able to provide a
mask
for our panel. :P I may actually end up making a pixel shader for this,
shouldn't be more than 4 lines of code... I just thought it wasn't the
best
way to do it.
 Thanks!
