You could try querying the server, but again, UDP sockets and getting a valid challenge, so there's not much of an upside. Suppose it has the advantage of being consistent across both HL1 and Source, which you don't get with RCON.

At that rate it would almost be easier to just trap console printing and look for the message, "Could not establish connection to Steam servers" I was hopping for something a bit simpler like sv_secure or similar. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Alfred Reynolds Sent: Saturday, January 14, 2006 4:09 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [hlcoders] Testing for VAC2 mode Or better yet the output of the "status" command (the sv_secure cvar is going to be removed). - Alfred Scott Loyd wrote: > -- > [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] > cvar sv_secure ? > > On 1/14/06, Deadman Standing <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: >> >> Anyone know of a simple server side test to check if VAC2 is enabled >> in HL1 or Source?
