when you make your weapon, just make sure it's "physiqued" ( or enveloped )
to a bone that has the exact same name of the hand bone that you are
attaching it to. If you are using the default Valve biped, the name of the
bone is
$bonemerge "ValveBiped.Bip01_R_Hand"

This procedure is WELL documented on the Valve Wiki.

Hey guys, I'm trying to get the weapon attached to my model's hand and was
looking through several weapon cpp files but found no lead so i'm wondering
if anybody here has an idea where to start looking at the weapon attachment
code. also do i need to create an additional bone in the hand for the weapon
attachment or would the model's hand bone be sufficient.
