Ive been thinking bout this subject recently so I'd be really interested to see what people have to say about it. I imagine theirs quite a bit published about this too.
In assasins creed it seems like it detects the nearest grabable edge so that when you jump towards it helps you onto it. It sees like it does this otherwise navigating around the map would be quite tricky and its pretty fluid in this. I guess one way to create this kind of effect would be to create a grabable object class and do a test to see which is the nearest object in the players direction and then if the direction is close enough horizontally and player jumps withn a certain distance orientate the player towards this object. then have a collision test if the player and object collide or even if they are close enough then stop the falling or gravity function and align the objects by their bones and play your appropriate animations. Is something like this a good method to acheive this kind of result? _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlcoders
