From what I heard at <http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=steam_linux_script&num=1>, they have found a bash script in the mac beta that adds future support for Linux. And they have also released .so files for Linux in Left 4 Dead once, and so on. There is some evidence but nothing I would consider valid proof of a Linux client coming in the near future.
