Is file-level security necessary? Can't you just select the files in
question and make them read only? Is there some functionality in HLDS to
change file attributes? From the client side, I had experience playing on
a server where the Admin used Admin-mod to remove all key bindings from
clients if the Admin was on the losing side of the CS server. Since I use
WinME as my client OS, I set the file attribute of my config file to read
only. The only down side is that you will get an error message when
closing Half-Life that your config files could not be updated, but you can
ignore this error. Won't this same tactic work for the map files on the
server?
